Collection Management

Our Collection Management platform is suited to a range of cultural collections and organisations and is built directly on the open source application CollectiveAccess.

CollectiveAccess provides a cataloguing backend and a public display frontend which can be configured to suit your organisations requirements. Housing many large collections CollectiveAccess is scalable and widely use in North America (for example by the American Museum of Natural History and Association of Nova Scotia Museums).

GLAM IT aims to make CollectiveAccess available to organisations in Australia and New Zealand through projects and managed hosting solutions.

Features of CollectiveAccess include:

  • Fully customisable and configurable
  • Regularly security tested
  • Integrate with other systems via an API
  • Can support almost any collection type
  • No vendor lock in
  • Extensible via plugins
  • Extremely flexible in its data storage and data modelling

"We are delighted with CollectiveAccess which meets Special Collections needs and surpassed our expectations"

Powered by open source

Open source software means the software is freely available without needing to pay for a licence. However, this usually means the recipient needs to install and manage it themself and this can make open source software out of reach for many. This is where GLAM IT™ comes in, making these amazing resources accessible to more organisations like yours.

In most cases data/metadata can be migrated, as long as:
  • the structure is understood
  • the data can be exported
  • the data can be accessed
  • sufficient time is committed to cleaning and standardising before attempting an import.
Depending on your requirements GLAM IT will be able to assist during a migration project.

GLAM IT Collection Management platform is able to ensure only people allowed to see particular records can. Our system has extensive controls covering users and groups which manage their ability to access objects, metadata and functions.

Yes we can! GLAM IT provide a fully managed service for customers unable to host internally.
We understand that not everyone can host their own CMS so we have several offerings in this space for medium to large collections.
Not a large collection? We are actively working on an ‘as-a-service’ offering which we hope will become available early next year

No we do not, all our solutions are released under Open Source Initiative approved licences.

Basic support is available to all customers hosted in our environment.
Extra support or support for self hosted installations is available from GLAM IT systems, with the cost dependent on project requirements, number of hours purchased, and other factors.
